Youth
History
In following the strategic plan of Leadership Sandusky
County (LSC), a new Youth Leadership Sandusky County program
was implemented in the 2005-06 school year. 32 eighth
graders have graduated from this unique program and 24 more are
enrolled in this years' program representing 10 schools.
Mission
The Youth Leadership Sandusky County program is an
investment in the future of Sandusky County. Its purpose is
to broaden awareness and develop leadership skills in a
select group of eighth grade students, motivating them to
become positive role models, active and committed to their
community responsibilities.
Objectives
The nine core objectives for the YLSC program are to:
Develop leadership skills
Improve
communication skills through networking and interactions
Understand diversity of schools
Build self confidence
Understand the concept of teamwork
Enhance knowledge of economic development
Explore legal and justice systems within the community
Develop awareness of educational opportunities
Understand the importance of volunteerism
Audience
The program is geared for eighth graders. The recruiting for
the 2009 Class will begin in the spring of 2008. Interested
students should inquire through their guidance counselors or
by contacting the Leadership Sandusky County office at
